Clinical Results of Hip Replacements with Omnifit Microstructured Femoral Stem

Abstract
We reviewed 145 primary hip arthroplasties(in 120 patients, 69 men & 51 women) in which Omnifit Microstructured femoral stems (Osteonics, Allendale, New jersey) were used. They were followed up for an average of 4 years and 2 months (3 year
and 3
months to 6 years and 3 months). The mean age of them at operation was 44 years(17 to 67). The diagnosis was osteonecrosis of femoral head in 85 cases, infection sequela in 34 cases, bony ankylosis in 9 cases, dysplastic hip in 8 cases,
Legg-Perthes disease sequela in 4 cases, epiphyseal dysplasia in 2 cases, fracture sequelae in 2 cases and ankylosing spondylitis in 1 case.
The everage Harris score was improved from 61.6 preoperatively to 90.2 postoperatively. The results were excellent in 92 cases(63.4%), fair in 7 cases(4.8%) and poor in 4 cases(2.8%). According to the last follow-up radiologic
findings,
141
cases(97.2%) were considered to be stable bony fixation and 4 cases to be stble fibrous fixation There was no case of unstable fixation and revision. Nine cases(6.2%) of proximal neck vrack during insertion of this stem were
occurred.
Thirteen patients complained of thigh pain and it had no relation with the final radiologic fixation state.
Long term follow-up result is mandatory for further evaluation and analysis of survival of hip arthroplasty using Omnifit Microstructured femoral stem.
